Frozen Shadows
(In Memory of Mama Rosita R. Alfonso- 09/16/22 – 07/21/2012
A Dentist, she gave up her career to be a full time Mom
and Mommy Luz M. Katon- 12/22/16- 11/20/1999
She was one of my country’s pioneers in the field of Education)
.
Sunrise and sunset
Summer shifts into fall
Embers turn into ashes
Gentle rain like teardrops
Dampens the thirsty planet
Memories and frozen shadows
In winter lie buried in the snow
Through a cold and lonely
Many sunsets beneath
A lonely hollow earth.
.
Sunrise and sunset
Frozen shadows sleep in peace
Pain free and tranquil essences
Resting securely in His grace…
Beauty and serenity I sense in this.
Thank you, Ben, I would forever be grateful for my 2 beautiful moms for all that they’d been to me.
You pass on what they gave in your turn.
That’s a beautiful memory 🙂 wonderful words 🙂
Thank you, it is beautiful indeed, with equally beautiful memories to cherish.
Very beautiful and awesome poem my sister. I am feeling the emotion in your words and moved greatly deep within. I know that they smile within your heart everyday, as I know you were always a sweet and dear blessing to them both! Spiritual love, hugs and blessings to you always Cynthia!
Your beautiful comment touch me deeply, Wendell. They lived their lives with purpose, loved us, and taught values to last a lifetime.
Such beautiful words and tribute to them both, Cynthia, and they were blessed to have you as their daughter, too. Much love to you, my sister…xoxo
Thank you, Lauren, I still feel misty inside, but I believe they are in a much better place now–pain free and tranquil!
Oh Cynthia, this is so lovely–I especially like the last stanza–beautiful, reverent imagery. God bless you BIG today–love, sis Caddo/Cj (And I really really love the photos too!)
Thank you, sis Caddo, indeed I have lovely memories of them both! And I would agree, we’re looking at my mom’s classical face. When she was a young lady, she adored Aubrey Hepburn. At age eighteen she was one of the youngest, brightest teachers of Manila…
Wow, I love that you have such beautiful memories.
What a beautiful picture.
Thank you, Jacqui… I have beautiful memories of them both!
I have pictures of my mom that have that peaceful, intelligent look. I wonder if there’s something we’ve all lost over the years–or is it the quality of the photos.
I believe we have lost the classic, golden quality of the era they were born into, and the resilient determination which fashioned their lives. Even the photograph survived the horrific WW2, and retained the sterling quality of the era it represented.
I see your point. A self-determination, that quiet confidence that they could indeed solve the world’s problems. No victim hidden in those eyes.
beautiful with so much love written tribute , dear Cynthia. Precious photo.
many hugs an love from across the miles xxxxxx
Thank you, Francina…how time flies. I could only write memories, for the mind and heart never forgets.
yes, I was thinking that too, dear Cynthia, when I realized that it’s a year ago when you told us the sad news. The heart always remembers indeed.
lots of love and hugs from across the miles xxxxx
What a lovely tribute to your moms!
Thank you, Sheryl, 2 exemplary women who influenced my life deserved a fitting tribute. Am blessed to have them for my moms!
God Bless You – she was a beautiful woman who lives in your heart and memory!
