Paint me reality

in your own reality,

that of a gardener

or a peasant perhaps,

or a basket of flowers

closest to my heart.

Paint me reality

in its grimmest state,

the misery of war

the cruelty of man,

paint it to me with

photographic accuracy.

Paint me brilliant sonorities

of new color harmonies,

a sea-side landscape

or a summer-flowering tree,

with enchanting poetry

and sentimentality, Β paint

all these things for me!

  1. Is a very touching poem, of great sensibility. You reach our soul with few words but so deep. Thanks

    • Grazie, Giusseppe, for your kind words! I wrote this a long time ago for my Humanities College Professor (a painter and writer)) who discovered the poet within me and encouraged me to release that hidden talent, and this is what I’m doing now!

  2. Beautiful flowers and I really liked the poem. While I do love to paint, I haven’t a clue what I am doing. It is simply something I must do.

  3. Dear Cynthia, How beautiful! Thank you, Ellen
