Playing Scrabbles of cold

Psycho-war games between us

We aim perfectly missiles

Of craftily-constructed barriers

Against each other.

I charge myself inadequate

Every time I play below triple

I always affix “dis” on trust

Because you often snitch one good

Tile behind my back.

I was content with seven

You loved to hide one more

To beat me to the score.

Got to block and deconstruct

Put a space between us

As I un-scrabble your self-image

Cloaked in foul deceitful tactics.

As we play and display our best

Score against each other

Watch out ‘coz the chip you hid

Would just be a miserable Joker.

  1. Very original and unique poem. There is more to the poem than the game.

  2. Scary.

    Touching.
    Instructive.
    Well-written.

  4. you sound like a scary Scrabble player! 🙂

  5. What a sterling poem, Miss Cynthia. This also reminds me of all the fun bickering my friends and I had made whilst playing this game.

  6. Hi Addie, thanks for the compliment, and the game experience shared LOL, so true, especially when you outscore them all 🙂
