You broke away from a savage trap

Of red-raw colored pains

To a jolting mute silence

Defying your life, a choice not many

Would make. My mind wept.

So we watched you blossom just a while ago, two decades past,

From a young-beauty princess

To a lovely comedienne star-actress

Across our TV screen, giggly and full of life.

Your naiveté and broken dialect brought delight

Into our homes until a prince from the north swept you

Off your feet away from our favorite sitcom

Into an ivory tower to become his queen till death

Do you part forevermore or so.

We heard little news then except you’d become

(Or had seemed to be) a Madonna of domestic bliss

Pregnant one after another of little princes

And princesses you called your own.

It was a shock near one Christmas season

When you jumped off that condominium to

Your platinum death below shrieking wildly

About being brutally pursued! Your terrorized

Scream etching its piercing cry across the dailies

And into our mind your sudden mangled form!

Where were your prince, and your royal offspring?

Why went you away from home?

What demons drove you fearfully insane?

Was it a relief this absolute death

To free yourself from helplessness?

I would have lent you my Wings

If only you have not hidden your bruises

And pains and tragic fears behind an agitated smile.
