Gazing at your open face

Looking for answers to questions

In your dark brown eyes

I search for lasting impressions

Of memories to last a lifetime.

There’s an art to be learned here

And it’s memorable as the first time

You smiled at me

While I read your thoughts.

I was full of questions,

What would this friendship be like?

A sunny one or fair-weather type only?

Can I trust your good looks

More than your smile?

Today I no longer ask

Because you have given the answers.

I‘m happy to say

You have surpassed the material phase

By breathing life to friendship

And rousing creativity, erasing shadowy impressions.

Now I certainly believe

“It’s not the sugar that makes the coffee sweet,

but the stirring!”

A cup of coffee, my friend?
