( On Typhoon Ondoy’s Second Anniversary )

i.

The rain did not kiss

But spewed out venomous flood

Wanting to drown us!

ii.

Heavy the rain falls

As floodwaters rise higher

The darkness deepens!

iii.

Mountains turn balder

Each year I journey up north

I fear for the worst!

iv.

And now it happens

Floods become unabated

Destroying mankind!

v.

Man destroys nature

Furiously nature fights back

Man recoils in fear!

vi.

Ondoy and Pepeng

Savage children of nature

Taught us hard lessons.
