(for all my friends, past and present)

Between the two of us

When was friendship formed?

Drop by drop as a vessel is filled

A last drop makes it run over.

So in you my heart is glad

Because of kindness shown

Sweet smiles and sincere words

Keep it in constant motion.

So I’ve thought it would be wise

To keep friendship renewed

Pleasant and mellow, warm and bright

Replenished from time to time.

Just like the last drop in a cup

When not refilled so soon

Empties friendship of its worth

Dries up the heart of its song.

So now my friend I leave to you

The pleasant memories we’ve shared

May they live on to fill the earth

With their immortal consolations.
